Accessorising Your Dollhouse

Accessorising Your Dollhouse

So you have the basics, your room sets are perfect, but it’s missing something. You want it to feel a bit more … real! This is where the accessories come in. Here are some handy ways to bring your dollhouse set up to life.

Use your matchbox bedding as bathmats, scatter cushions for your miniature sofa, or peg some on a washing line (or even better on the Maileg peg rack. Fold up some bedding on top of your miniature washing machine (or have some inside!).

The Maileg bedding deserves more than being hidden in your matchboxes – use it in your dollhouse.

If you want some serious value for money from your Maileg accessories, then I can not recommend getting the grocery box set enough. It works great with miniature or mouse size furniture, and you can use it in every room of your dollhouse.

Midnight snacks in the bedroom, stock up your fridge, pop some bread and milk on the breakfast dining table, fill your miniature shelves with snacks the options are endless!

In a similar vein the afternoon treats sets also have endless uses around your dollhouse, I love to put a mug next to the bed for a morning cuppa, and the teapot looks so cute on the miniature or mouse size kitchen.

If you aren’t precious about your Maileg packaging (collectors look away now) then you can upcycle this in your dollhouse too and also makes a great crafty activity for children.

Make your own mini mouse mail, add some posters or picture frames to your dollhouse walls, add some birthday cards to the miniature mantel piece, and homemade maileg bunting.

If you are looking for Pinterest worthy accents for your dollhouse then it doesn’t get much better than these mini porcelain vases, and the white décor pieces for your shelves. Add some small dried flowers for ultimate style.

We also have some seasonal pieces in this style that are great for Christmas or Halloween.

Some of my other favourite Maileg finishing touches include the miniature Mirror & Shelf, the alarm clock, and the miniature plants. What do you use to add some wow to your dollhouse set up? I would love to know!
