Maileg Theme Party Inspo

Maileg Theme Party Inspo

Thinking about creating a Maileg themed party for somebody special? We have all the inspiration you need - plus everything you need to create it in one handy place!

We spent an afternoon in the garden with a basic trestle table and a whole lot of Maileg and Meri Meri goodies creating this adorable party table set up - it just kept on getting cuter and cuter!! In fact I am seriously tempted to recreate this Maileg Party set up for my birthday next year; who sales cute birthday parties are just for kids?!

We used a mixture of the official Maileg items (such as the goodie bags you see here and their napkins) mixed in with a whole heap of our Meri Meri party decorations. the pastel colours and mixed patterns really created a whimsical vibe.

Personally I love a mismatch - but if you're more of a matchy matchy person it is easy to just select items from the same range; we have Meri Meri's own patterns (like these reusable gingham cups, a whole range of party hats and decor with Liberty prints (how gorgeouse are these Liberty crowns with that gorgeous bow?!), plus some gorgeous Molly Mahon desings too (never seen such beautiful party plates!).

Of course you don't NEED to go on a massive shopping spree to recreate something similar - homemade paper hats are a super fun craft project - don't forget to make mini hats for your teddies to wear! And a colourful paper chain is a classic homemade party decoration, although our scalloped liberty print paper chain does take some beating!

In terms of party food; for our party we only brought cake!! But I am of the opinion that if you have cute party plates; they make virtually any food look adorable. If this had been a real party and not just a photo shoot I probably would have set up a seperate buffet style party food table using the larger dinner plate sizes party plates as platters for sweet and savoury party snacks.

But as it was we just grabbed some beautiful party cakes from Marks & Spencers and popped some of our cake toppers in some of them, we also had some gorgeous birthday candles for the cake but never got round to putting them actually on the cake.

(Is it bad luck to sing happy birthday with candles if it isn't actually your birthday?!)

I love a show stopper on a party table display, now obviously normally this would be the cake probably - and our cake certainly did look beautiful sat on our liberty melamine cake stand but I wanted more (of course I did!!).

So I made a little beech set up using the ice cream cups & spoons set and some Maileg beech mice - these cups would work for plenty of different deserts (imagine them filled with pick and mix - or even veggie sticks!) and the box is too beautiful not to use as part of your display.

Or if you want to go bigger .... of course you do! Then the ferris wheel is such a great show stopper. Instead of sweets or cakes I filled mine with Maileg mice - and almost convinced myself I need a fairground set up for my mice all year round as part of one of my displays - how cute would this be with the circus Maileg collection?!

You know actually - one photo of this just isn't enough!

Then apart from the show stoppers on the party table - the other stars of the show were the hanging lanterns and hot air balloons that added height to the display.

Our party table was set under a tree in the garden at Clarke's Farm, so we hung our lanterns etc from the tree branches (total alice in wonderland vibes), but you could recreate this with command hooks on your ceiling (the lanterns etc come with pretty string) or using one of those fancy over the table stands.

The liberty print hot air balloons come in a pack of 3 and looked great with a Maileg mouse balanced on, or use some with magnetic hands. As do the liberty print mushroom lanterns.

These are both decorations that can 100% be used all year round in a child's bedroom or where ever you want to add a touch of whimsy to your home. I absolutely love them.

Have I inspired you?! Hungry for more?! Well I have a YouTube video with all the behind the scenes footage of Liv and I setting up this Maileg Party here if you want to see more.

Also a moment to say a HUGE thank you to Liv for taking all these delicious photos of the set up for me - see really is such a gem and I appreciate her so much - check out her insta here. We had such a fun afternoon playing with all these goodies!
