Have you added the Maileg SuitCasa portable dollhouse to your collection yet? Now the dust has settled a little (I couldn't keep them in stock for more than a week for a while - Maileg were even splitting shipments between stockists they were so popular) I wanted to do a bit of a deep dive into the ways you could decorate this little suitcase house.

The dolls house itself is made of cardboard and papered with beautiful Maileg illustrations both inside and out, with a cute metal handle and doors that close with a satisfying magnetic snap!
The bunk beds come with two sets of bedding included, and a handy little drawer underneath that can be used to store your miniatures on the go.

I love the idea of children taking this out to boring meals, family functions (insert every boring grown up function you get dragged to as a child!) and playing with it under the table in their own make believe world. Or perhaps a dollhouse that is kept at Grannies house to play with when the grandchildren visit, and perhaps Granny has rearranged the mice each time!
It would obviously also make the most beautiful gift, or if like us you are a grown up collector it looks gorgeous on a shelf / displayed in a little nook somewhere.

When this dollhouse was released, so were a few slightly smaller mouse scale furniture items - released with this house in mind and I have tried to show them for you here, as well as Louis Max and Stella Stardust - but any little sister/brother size mice will be fine.
Hopefully by the end of this post you will also realise that there is so much more than just these items available to use with this doll house.

With only 3 rooms to decorate it can be easy to get stuck in a very samey way of decorating this dollhouse, so I have tried to give you varied ideas for each room, and I also encourage you to use the open wallpapered doors as an extension of the house; especially if yours is on display somewhere like ours!
Because the house is so beautifully compact, it's not hard to have a big impact without needing to many miniature pieces; you just have to be mindful that you don't buy anything that is too big for the rooms - mouse size only for the SuitCasa; anything miniature scale or larger wont fit.

I have a youtube video giving plenty of inspiration and various setups in this suitcase dollhouse & a whole playlist full of ideas for the SuitCasa on our TikTok if I've left you hungry for more!
If you decide to add this cutey to your Maileg collection I would absolutely love you to tag me in whatever you create (or send me the pictures!)
