Mouse Food - What to Feed your Maileg

Mouse Food - What to Feed your Maileg

Is a home a home without food? NO!! So by the same logic I would suggest that a key component of your dollhouse should be food, the fridge needs to be stocked, the dining table needs miniature cheeses (because as my niece tells me; ‘they are mice after all’) and your mice need little cups to drink from.

So here is your guide to all things Maileg miniature food.

An obvious place to start is with the grocery set, a true staple Maileg item, stock your miniature fridge with it, pop the milk on the breakfast table, and the little box of ice lollies is one of the most darling things I have ever seen! In my humble opinion this is a must for your dollhouse.

It is miniature scale food but don’t worry if you have a mouse size dollhouse, I think this food works perfectly for both.

Another Maileg core purchase for me (food or otherwise) is one of the afternoon treat sets. Set your Maileg friends up with cups and a teapot, plus some sweet treats. We currently have 3 options in stock: the merle, blue Madelaine and purple Madelaine.

In terms of scale the Merle set has slightly smaller more mouse sized cups, but they are all listed as mouse sized so just go with your favourite!

And use the gorgeous metal suitcase packaging as a miniature coffee table or pop it under a mouse bed or in your dollhouse attic.

Ok so that the basics covered, now onto the slightly more obscure dollhouse food purchases. I think if you already have a metal kitchen (mouse of miniature) then it is easy to dismiss the cooking set as unnecessary, but the food and cooking utensils it comes with are worth it even if you don’t need the kitchen matchbox. Once you have seen the tiny little friend egg in that miniature frying pan you will be in love!

Another favourite of mine is the Picnic set (mouse size), with its suitcase tin and gingham picnic blanket I don’t just use this set with the outdoorsy mice, but as snacks in the bedrooms or a little den in the attic. Plus, the suitcase perched in the tricycle hanger or the basket stuffed with goodies, it is adorable!!

Now onto some of the miniature & mini (slightly larger) Maileg food; top spot for me is a very close call between the Hot Chocolate set and the Tea and Biscuits for Two. I don’t think I can actually pick a favourite, these work great scale wise with your Maileg Teddies, Rabbits and Bunnies, but I also love the oversized look when you use them with the mice. Definitely don’t be confined by any rules to do with scale when you are decorating your Maileg dollhouse, especially when it comes to miniature accessories.

There are many more options when it comes to miniature food from Maileg so rather than blab on for ages and ages about each I have created a little infographic with all of them on, please let me know if you think I have missed something.

As with all my blog posts I will endeavour to keep this updated as new releases come/ items are discontinued, but do feel free to give me a nudge in the comments if you are reading this and I have neglected my promise!!
